Dance for Trees - Come as you Are

Dance for Trees is a fundraising project for tree planting and forest regeneration in Australia and Aotearoa NZ

Time & Location

07 Jul 2023, 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Movement First (and online), 23 Derby Street, Gisborne 4010, New Zealand

About the event

We fundraise by dancing together and sharing a Qoya-inspired movement class.

Qoya-inspired movement is a simple practice based on the idea that as we move we remember.

Qoya draws from the wisdom of Yoga, the creativity of dance and the mindful awareness of embodied movement. There is no way you can get Qoya wrong, it's not about what it looks like, it's all about how it feels in your own body. Everyone is welcome, video on or off.

Dance with us online, join in the studio at MFP or donate and join to receive the recording and enjoy the music and dance in your own time.

This month we support the Women's Native Tree Project Trust based in Tairāwhiti NZ, and Kauri from the project will join us to share a little about their work and mission with native trees before the class gets started.

If you would like to watch a short Greenpeace documentary on the impacts of forestry and a lack of trees in Tairāwhiti NZ here is a YouTube link: https://youtu.be/e7d8jL9V8sQ
