About the event

Gizzy Local presents…. “A conversation for our Arts Community”

For artists, arts workers and arts consumers in Te Tairāwhiti

What is the state of the arts here in Te Tairāwhiti? Who are our creatives? Who’s in the audience? What challenges are we facing, and how can we work together to boost our local creative economy and maximise the good stuff that comes from creating and consuming art?

Facilitated by independent Producer Jordan Walker, with guest facilitators honing in on creative practices, let’s unpack these solutions together, through kōrero and connection.

In this session we'll be joined by Steph Barnett and Cain Kerehoma.

Steph Barnett

“Create Growth - personal, creative and financial”

Steph Barnett specialises in experimental animation as a multimedia artist, creating work that speaks to personal and social change while challenging societal norms. She holds the position of lecturer of Art and Design at Eastern Institute of Technology.

His research explores this new conceptual framework underpinned by mātauranga Māori, which is characterised as generous, generative and generational. He is passionate about leveraging indigenous wisdom to drive innovative solutions for future prosperity. Father of three. Husband of one. Master of none.
