About the event
Inspired by a Japanese legend that promises a wish to those who fold 1,000 paper cranes, this moving story follows Sadako Sasaki, a young girl diagnosed with leukaemia as a result of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
Hoping for recovery, Sadako begins folding cranes from her hospital bed, holding fast to hope with every careful crease. Though she completes 644 before her passing, her classmates finish the remaining cranes, transforming her wish into a lasting symbol of peace, remembrance, and hope.
