About the event
Released in 1980, 9 to 5 was a box-office smash and a landmark feminist comedy, starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton (in her film debut) as three women pushed to the brink by sexism and inequality in the workplace.
Parton also wrote and performed the iconic title song, famously creating its typewriter-like rhythm by tapping her acrylic nails together. The song became a global hit and one of her signature works, earning two Grammys and an Oscar nomination.
