About the event
Award-winning filmmaker Payal Kapadia (A Night of Knowing Nothing) directs this radiant romantic drama, the first Indian film to win the Grand Prix at Cannes. The story follows two nurses, Prabha and Anu, sharing an apartment in Mumbai. Prabha, whose husband works in Germany, and Anu, who has a secret relationship with a young Muslim man, both seek love but find sisterhood instead. When Prabha receives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband and Anu struggles to find privacy with her boyfriend, a trip to a beach town offers space for their desires. Kapadia’s debut feature is a tender exploration of female connection set against the vibrant pulse of Mumbai.
