About the event
This long-overdue documentary shines a light on the life and legacy of one of the nation’s most influential musical voices.
Directed by acclaimed cultural documentarian Shirley Horrocks, the film traces Don McGlashan’s extraordinary career from his formative bands to the iconic brilliance of The Front Lawn, and his enduring work across film and television. While McGlashan’s songs are woven deep into the Kiwi soundtrack, the man behind the music has remained largely out of view until now.
This inspiring portrait captures both the highs and lows of a singular creative life, revelling in backstage tales while gently unearthing the deeply personal stories behind some of Aotearoa’s most loved anthems. Reflections from celebrated collaborators, including Neil Finn and Toa Fraser, sit alongside intimate interviews with family, offering rare insight into a unique artistic mind.
Warm, honest, and quietly powerful, this is a must-see for music lovers, storytellers, and anyone curious about…
