About the event
Meg Gaddum is Gisborne born and raised and farmed for 42 years in the Whakarau Road valley. Retiring from farming she embarked on a new life and adventure as an artist. Her abstract work uses strong colour, intentional marks, transparent and opaque layers and geometric shapes. Meg identifies as an abstract expressionist, using oils but always including a range of compatible mixed media into her work.
She’s exhibited in Auckland, Rotorua, Tauranga and around the Bay of Plenty. Recently her work has been accepted for exhibitions in Wellington, Wānaka, and Auckland. Meg lives on the shores of Ohiwa Harbour near Opotiki.
Meg’s inspiration comes from her environment, her wider artistic family, her work in agriculture and landscape architecture and from research and explorations in colour theory, design elements and composition. Meg feels each work has some element of experimental discovery that increases her knowledge and propels her forward.
Matawhero Winery has recently provided a newly renovated gallery space within their tasting room. What could be better? Tasting gorgeous wines and gazing at art. Meditation and relaxation.
Matawhero Winery is open Wed-Sun. Find more information here about their hours, their menu and how to book. Bookings are recommended.
