Far Out! Film Night - Son of the White Mare (1981) by Marcell Jankovics
One of the great psychedelic masterpieces of world animation, this is a swirling, colour-mad maelstrom of mythic monsters and heroes
Time & Location
25 Jul, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Dome Bar & Cinema , 38 Childers Road, Gisborne 4010, New Zealand
About the event
In this dreamlike Hungarian folk myth, a horse goddess gives birth to three powerful brothers who set out into the Underworld to save three princesses from three evil dragons and reclaim their ancestors' lost kingdom.
The story is based on a traditional Hungarian folk tale brought to life by Marcell Jankovics... a Hungarian legend who is lesser known outside of his home country. This marvel of morphing scenes, colours and transforming characters will delight all who come to behold it. In addition we will be screening two short animated films, one from the 1930’s and a recent short made by local Gizzy animator Steph Barnett.
Bar from 5.30pm, movie at 6.30pm.
Booking essential: to reserve a dining table or a movie beanbag please text name, date, movie and number of people to 027 590 2117.
Far Out! Movie Night is on the last Tuesday of the month.
