Dog owners are encouraged to take part in avian aversion training, a quick, effective way to help protect native birds like kiwi and weka, and ensure dogs are certified for conservation land.

About the event
Dog owners, especially those with hunting dogs or living near native bush, are invited to take part in a quick, effective training session designed to protect Aotearoa’s ground-dwelling native birds, such as kiwi and weka.
Delivered by long-time trainer Willy Marsh, this 15-minute aversion training teaches dogs to steer clear of vulnerable native wildlife.
With over 20 years of experience, Willy’s work is helping communities across the motu become better kaitiaki for our precious manu.
Bookings can be made in advance by contacting Trudi Ngawhare at tngawhare@doc.govt.nz or 027 539 6259 simply include your name, contact details, number of dogs, and preferred day. Walk-ups are also welcome.
