About the event
The Future Development Strategy for Tairāwhiti aims to guide housing and business growth over the next three decades.
It focuses on accommodating growth in areas with upgraded infrastructure while emphasizing housing density over urban sprawl.
Recent feedback suggests a preference for intensification, emphasizing a vibrant city that grows upwards to address climate challenges.
The strategy aims to balance growth with preserving productive soils for food production.
Community input is crucial before finalising this Strategy.
The consultation on the draft is open now until Wednesday, January 31.
