Gisborne Canoe & Tramping Club walk

It is a 3 – 4 hour walk to Nikau Flat Hut in the upper Waioeka River, starting from Wairata Station. The track has slipped away in places, necessitating walking in the river for part of the distance, so this trip is dependent on low river levels. Bring overnight gear including a tent or fly, food for two days, gas cooking stove, etc.
