About the event
Parkrun is a regular timed 5km that happens in parks and reserves the world over, but always on Saturdays at 7:50 am.
Gizzy's course is a family-/stroller-/wheelchair-friendly course that starts in the small recreation area between the Waikanae Surf Lifesaving Club and the tennis courts and follows the coast and riverfront.
It's a free, timed event for runners and walkers of all speeds.
Seriously, all paces are welcome, and there will be someone running or walking at your pace. Some people are out there trying to shave time off their 5km PB. Others are out for a Sunday stroll, their weekly walking date with a mate.
All you have to do is register with parkrun and print out your barcode. From there, you just bring that along each week and stretch your legs out.
