About the event
Explore the waters of Te Tapuwae o Rongokako Marine Reserve and celebrate Seaweek by connecting with our beautiful moana. You never know what you might spot! Discover spotties, triple fin, koura, kina and more! Whilst not in the water you can learn about your local marine environment at info stalls and enjoy a free sausage sizzle provided by Department of Conservation.
EMR (Experiencing Marine Reserves) coordinators and volunteers will be there to guide you in the water. Bring your own gear or hire FREE gear like a mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuits from He Awa Ora, He Tai Ora Trust (EMR endorsed provider organisation for our Tairawhiti region).
Recommended for everyone 5 years and up. All children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult (in and out of water). Experienced guides and advanced safety procedures will be in place on the day and to be followed at all times during this event.
Arrive at 9.30am for the introduction, health and safety briefing and karakia to kick start the day with your whanau.
