About the event

You may have used an electric wood lathe, but have you ever considered trying a foot-powered pole lathe? These lathes are centuries old and were traditionally used to make chair parts, bowls, cups and plates from green wood (freshly cut wood). Jasper Murphy will teach you the basics of operating this ancient piece of equipment. The class will be at Eastwoodhill from 1.00 pm to 3.30 on the 15th; if there is demand, he will hold another on the 16th of June. During the class, you will produce a kitchen spatula to take home with you. All wood and equipment will be provided. The wood will be from trees in the arboretum that were damaged by Cyclone Gabrielle.

Spaces are limited to 4.
