About the event
A new documentary directed by Ursula Grace Williams follows renowned Aotearoa singer-songwriter Marlon Williams (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāi Tai) on a profound four-year journey of reconnection and self-discovery while writing and recording his first album in te reo Māori.
The film captures Williams’ most ambitious project to date, weaving together his different worlds from international tours and recording sessions to life in his hometown of Ōhinehou (Lyttelton).
Celebrated for its beauty and insight, the documentary has been described as “beautifully shot and edited” (NZ Herald), “an intimate and evocative portrait” (RNZ), and “a brave, essential and joyous film that couldn’t have arrived at a better time” (The Spinoff).
