About the event

MŌWAI - The Weight of Water - turns research into living experiences through installations, sound, object, moving image, and words.

This exhibition is a creative response to the 2024 Te Tairāwhiti Qualitative Report, Kua huri te tai, Kua pari te tai aroha (Thorpe, McClutchie, Chaffey, Maxwell, Philip-Barbara & Caddie, 2024).

Supported by the Te Weu Charitable Trust, local researchers gathered stories from 77 participants across our rohe.

Experience art as a doorway into the research, and research as a bridge to imagination, care and action.

MŌWAI Exhibition will take over the Marina Building and opens to the public on September 27th at 6pm.

Exhibiting from the 27th Sept - 3rd Oct 2025.
