About the event

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, Poor Things is the fantastical evolution story of a young woman (Emma Stone) in Victorian London, brought back to life via brain transplant by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe), and embarks on an odyssey of self-discovery. Based on the 1992 award-winning novel by Alasdair Gray, co-starring Emmy nominees Margaret Qualley (Maid) and Ramy Youssef (Ramy) alongside Christopher Abbott (Possessor) and Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo.  Named one of the top ten films of 2023 and winner of numerous awards: Best Actress (Emma Stone), Production Design, Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, Oscars 2024;Best Leading Actress (Emma Stone), Costume Design, Makeup and Hair, Production Design, and Special Visual Effects, BAFTAs 2024; Golden Lion winner at Venice Film Festival 2023.
