About the event
A dark winter’s night is the perfect time to rug up, huddle together, and in the glow of a fire, tell each other stories. That cozy comradery, the act of learning about the world through each other’s experiences, closing our eyes and letting someone paint us a story or a lesson with their words is in our ancestral DNA. But guess what? It scratches some pretty modern itches as well and the modern lovers of the spoken word over at Gizzy Local are keen to recreate that in the glow of our Salt Lamp Tales coming to you on Friday 19 July.
This is a friendly, open-mic style “campfire” hang. Bring your favourite spoken word piece that'd be good for a broad audience (think “positive, funny, heartwarming”). You might want to share around the Salt Lamps "campfire" something that you’ve written and want to read aloud, or something written by your favourite author, poet, songwriter, ... you get it.
Put your name on the chalkboard when you arrive. Your Salt Lamp Tale should be less than 10 minutes long but could be as short as 30 seconds. (It’s a good idea to time yourself!)
Cost is $10 (cash, please). Park in the rear carpark and enter through the back door.
