About the event
Te Ara i Whiti – FREE EVENT
Te Ara i Whiti is bringing together some of Aotearoa's most exciting contemporary artists and local kura to illuminate stories from the area.
To acknowledge the move to this significant place- a tribal boundary, a point of first contact, a place of connection across generations - artists have been asked to explore themes of 'Hononga' (connection to place and one another).
Te Ara i Whiti, now in its eighth year, is an interactive visual arts experience with illuminated installations and sculptural works that celebrates contemporary design. It invites communities to come together, explore and connect through storytelling, shared kōrero, and actively engage with the artworks.
Curator Melanie Tangaere Baldwin returns in collaboration and support with globally acclaimed lighting designer and engineer Angus Muir.
It's a space where community comes together to enjoy the best of what Te Tairāwhiti has to offer.
