About the event
There’s something wonderfully endearing about a film that takes porridge this seriously.
The Golden Spurtle wanders into the sleepy Highland village of Carrbridge, where locals and far-flung visitors gather each year for the World Porridge Making Championships a celebration that’s equal parts tradition, friendly rivalry, and pure, oat-powered joy.
The film follows the characters who keep the village’s quirky legacy alive, from lifelong locals to bold international contenders keen to stir things up. Among them is Sydney chef Toby Wilson, returning for round two with high hopes and a wooden spoon at the ready. Warm, funny, and surprisingly moving, it’s a charming portrait of community spirit and the lengths people will go to for the perfect bowl of oats.
