From her precocious beginnings in rural Northland to her role in the New Zealand Women’s Liberation Movement, Kidman’s life and work have long been interwoven. In this deeply personal film, she opens up about the private griefs and political convictions that have shaped her storytelling, offering rare insight into the experiences that inspired some of her most powerful fiction.
Directed by Joshua Prendeville, this film is both a portrait of resilience and a meditation on how life and literature entwine. For the first time, Dame Fiona speaks candidly about the emotional and social challenges behind her public success, illuminating a remarkable career forged through courage, creativity, and an unwavering belief in the power of words.
