About the event
The Last Movie is the strange, sun-burnt follow-up to Easy Rider, a film that nearly ended Dennis Hopper’s Hollywood career and later became one of cinema’s great rediscoveries.
Shot in Peru, this project had a budget of 1 million dollars, and Dennis Hopper had total creative control.
During filming, he loosely followed a script, filming hours were based around friends who visited the set, he edited and re- edited the film constantly, and he showed the self-sabotage of his drug habit, missing the deadline to deliver the final cut by 6 months.
After this film, Dennis Hopper was exiled from Hollywood, only to re-emerge years later in 1979 for Apocalypse Now.
