The Voles + Frisky Boyy

The Voles, formed in the latter part of 2022, brings together a lineup of returning locals and old friends.  comprising Joe Alexander (former member of Fighting Like Stags and Jens Motion Control) on vocals/guitar, Ben Emms (Fighting Like Stags, Jens Motion Control and Frisky Boyy) on keys/percussion, AJ Bradley (Persimmon) on drums, Albert Gooding (Concubine) on lead guitar, and Andrew Cornford (Nation) on bass.

Upon AJ Bradley’s return to Gisborne a while back, she felt the need to get a band together. When she crossed paths with old school friends Joe, Ben and Albert, and everyone's-favourite-out-of-towner Andrew, her villainous schemes came to fruition!

The Voles’ craft compositions usually stem from a pop motif that is put through the band's dirty and sticky fingers and comes out with their unique blend of spaghetti grunge, garage rock, stoner rock, and vamp rock influences - resulting in a genre-defying sound. But! If you like to boogie, nod your head, or stand at the back and take that music in like a cool guy - The Voles are for you.

Ben Emms will be following up The Voles’ set, performing his first Solo album “Headspace” as Frisky Boyy. We’re looking forward to witnessing Ben’s emerging confidence as a songwriter in his truthful lyrics, washed out synthesizers, electrifying boppy drum beats and some serious lead breaks.
