Neighbourhood Cantina

There’s exciting news bubbling at the edges of Gizzy’s hospitality sector: Neighbourhood Cantina, the Wainui restaurant that Marcel Campbell opened last year is looking for a new owner. It’s surprising timing, true. But opportunities can’t be scheduled. There’s a project Marcel is keen to take on and it will need all his attention. His team put tons of love and elbow grease bringing the Cantina to life. Now they’re looking for the next person to keep the good vibes and great food flowing.

The new owners of the Cantina will inherit an establishment with a solid foundation, built on the success of Neighbourhood Pizzeria, a bustling Ballance St venue that’s become a Gizzy institution over the last 10 years. Just like the Pizzeria, the Cantina is a place with good bones that suits both dining in and take-aways, catching up with friends and family, sharing life over a bevvie and food made with the best possible ingredients, local whenever possible.
The Cantina is a Gizzy model that works for Gizzy. Marcel had a vision to give Wainui what it's been missing, a local hangout. Since nowhere is that far in Gizzy, Neighbourhood Cantina pretty quickly became Wainui’s “local” and Gizzy’s “local”. In fact, meeting demand since their summertime opening was a challenge, but one the team were happy to face head-on.
Marcel wants to find that person who has a similar community spirit and desire to make a world-class establishment for Gizzy. It’s priced with an eye on local business owners, attracting the restauranteur as well as “someone who fancies a punt.” If this is your first time and you need some hand-over support, that can be included. In fact it’s all up for discussion: keep the name, menu, vibe or change all of it. Marcel welcomes the next owner to take the reins and make it better! Afterall, as a Wainui resident, he wants a place to call his local, too.
Whether you’ve previously owned a restaurant or currently operate a food truck and are looking to expand, if you’re keen to build on the foundation laid by Marcel and the team, please don’t hesitate to contact Bayleys agent Mike Florance for a confidential discussion at mike.florance@bayleys.co.nz or on 021 222 8053.
