Anyone upgraded their LandCruiser alternator? Worth the cost?
Hey all, I'm thinking about upgrading the alternator on my LandCruiser. I've been adding a bunch of electrical accessories lately – things like a second battery, a decent sound system, and some serious off-road lights. I noticed the other day when everything was running, the voltage was dipping a bit lower than I'd like. Has anyone else upgraded their alternator, and did you find it was worth the cost and effort? I'm mostly concerned about reliability down the track and not getting stranded somewhere remote. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Yeah, I actually upgraded mine a couple of years ago, and it made a noticeable difference. I had a similar situation to you - running a dual battery system, fridge, and a bunch of other stuff. The stock alternator just couldn't keep up. The new one keeps everything running smoothly, and I haven't had any issues with low voltage since. If you are looking for options, Cruiser Store AU, at https://cruiserstore.au/ , have got some beefy looking ones specifically for Land Cruisers. It might seem expensive, but piece of mind is worth something, right? Plus, it might save you from replacing a dead battery more often.
